Celebrating the
launch of the
BSO’s Resounding
Campaign
To celebrate the launch of the BSO’s
Resounding Campaign, events
were held January 19–20, 2018
at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony
Hall and The Music Center at
Strathmore. Pictured below are
a few of the many guests who were
in attendance.

Specifically, BSYO gifts
received through Resounding
will provide merit and need-
based scholarships that will
enhance the musical caliber of
the ensemble and broaden the
reach of the program to ensure
that tuition is never a barrier
to participation. Additionally,
funds will increase access to the
BSO for students and parents
Mike Hansen, Nancy Randa
and Debbie Smith
and bring the youth orchestras to
more under-served communities
in the region.
Campaign funds raised in
support of OrchKids will allow
the program to maintain its high
standard of outstanding music
instruction, to evaluate and
revise its curriculum, to measure
musician and education progress
and to serve a larger number
of Baltimore’s students. The
program, which is celebrating
its tenth anniversary in 2018,
currently serves over 1,300
students in seven locations
throughout the city.
“I am extremely proud to be
a part of this transformation
and what it can mean for our
city and our region,” says BSO
Music Director Marin Alsop.
“This Campaign will ensure
that the BSO has the appropriate
resources needed, both today
and in the future, to sustain the
artistic excellence of this world-
class orchestra and continue
the important work of bringing
music into the communities we
serve through programs such as
OrchKids and the BSYO. Upon
the Campaign’s completion, we
will have the reinforced stability
to continue our traditions of
innovation and relevance.”
Campaign Committee
member and BSO English Horn
player Jane Marvine, now in
her 39 th year with the orchestra,
spoke about the importance
of the Campaign. “This is a
monumental moment for the
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra,”
she says. “Not only is the artistic
level of our concerts at its peak,
our extraordinary leadership and
commitment from all segments
of the organization are making a
lasting impact in our community
and transforming lives.”
Following decades of
stewardship and investment by
leaders throughout the region,
today the BSO is one of the top
orchestras in the country, serving
more than 350,000 people each
year. Resounding: The Campaign
for the BSO’s Second Century
will ensure another century of
extraordinary music-making and
community engagement.
