Distinctive talents , boundless possibilities . notoriety for his exceptional voice and artistry . This season , he returns to the Metropolitan Opera as Mercutio in the new production of Roméo et Juliette conducted by Gianandrea Noseda . He will also sing Pelléas in Pelléas et Melisande with Franz Welser-Möst and the Cleveland Orchestra in a fullystaged production by Yuval Sharon , as well as at Opéra-Théâtre de Limoges and with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra under Charles Dutoit . He will make his Florida Grand Opera debut as Reinaldo Arenas in Jorge Martin ’ s Before Night Falls and returns with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants to sing Rameau ’ s Les Indes galantes in Luxembourg . In concert , he will sing recitals in New York , Winnipeg , and Philadelphia . Recent major highlights include Figaro in The Barber of Seville ( MET ), Anthony in Sweeney Todd ( San Francisco Opera ), Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos with Kirill Petrenko in Munich and Paris ( Bayerische Staatsoper ), Pelléas ( Bayerische Staatsoper debut ), Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette conducted by Harry Bicket ( Santa Fe Opera ), Prince Hérisson de Porc-Epic in Laurent Pelly ’ s new production of Chabrier ’ s L ’ étoile which was recorded for DVD ( Dutch National Opera ), Ramiro in L ’ heure espagnole ( Glyndebourne Festival ), and Harlekin under Fabio Luisi ( Opernhaus Zurich ).

The Baltimore Choral Arts Society , now in its 51 st season , performs throughout the mid-Atlantic region , as well as in Washington , D . C ., New York , and in Europe .

The Chorus has performed for sold-out audiences in Paris and Aixen-Provence , and has also appeared at Spain ’ s prestigious Festival of the Costa del Sol . In 2006 , WMAR TV won an Emmy award for the ensemble ’ s annual special , “ Christmas with Choral Arts .” Music Director Tom Hall and the chorus were also featured in the PBS documentary “ Jews and Christians : A Journey of Faith ,” broadcast on National Public Radio . Mr . Hall is the host of “ Choral Arts Classics ,” a monthly program on WYPR that features the Choral Arts Chorus , and he is the host of WYPR ’ s “ Maryland Morning .”
Baltimore Choral Arts ’ CDs include “ Christmas at America ’ s First Cathedral ,” on Gothic Records , and a recording with Dave Brubeck , featuring Brubeck ’ s oratorio , “ The Gates of Justice ” on the NAXOS label along with two recordings in current release : “ Christmas with Choral Arts ” and a live recording of the Rachmaninoff “ All-Night Vigil .”
Choral Arts appears regularly with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the National Symphony , the Reading Symphony , and others . The Chorus has collaborated with Chanticleer , Dave Brubeck , the King ’ s Singers , Peter Schickele , Sweet Honey in the Rock and others .
Appointed Music Director in 1982 , Mr . Hall has premiered works by contemporary composers including Peter Schickele , Libby Larsen , James Lee , III and Rosephanye Dunn Powell .
Mr . Hall is also an active guest conductor in the United States and in Europe and has prepared choruses for Leonard Bernstein , Robert Shaw , Helmuth Rilling and others . He served for 10 years as the Chorus Master of the Baltimore Opera Company and for 32 years as Director of Choral Activities at Goucher College .
The Baltimore Choral Arts Society last appeared with the BSO in May 2016 , performing Bach ' s Mass in B minor , Nicholas McGegan , conductor .
