J E AN - BAPTISTE M I LLOT Jun Märkl Jun Märkl has long been known as a highly respected interpreter of the core Germanic repertoire from both the symphonic and operatic traditions, and more recently for his refined and idiomatic explorations of the French impressionists. His longstanding relationships at the state operas of Vienna, Berlin, Munich and Semperoper Dresden have been complemented by his Music Directorships of the Orchestre National de Lyon (2005 –2011) and MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig (to 2012). In 2015 –2016, Mr. Märkl debuts with the Bavarian Radio Symphony. He returns to the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic, Tonkuenstler Vienna, Brussels Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National and Hong Kong Philharmonic orchestras. He also returns to the Baltimore, Cincinnati, Dallas, Indianapolis, Utah and St. Louis symphonies. Mr. Märkl has conducted at NHK Symphony Tokyo, Pacific Music Festival Sapporo with the Mito Chamber Orchestra, and recently accepted the position of Invited Professor at the Kunitachi School of Music in Tokyo. Jun Märkl last appeared with the BSO in October of 2013, when he led a program of Dvořák, Tchaikovsky, and Brahms.
