{I n H i story}
In February 1824
Beethoven finished his Symphony No. 9. At this point in his life he was
completely deaf and had to communicate with others through pen and paper. While this is the last
full symphony he ever composed, detailed sketches of a tenth symphony have been found.

In a grand display of Baltimore spirit and
pride, members of the Baltimore Symphony
Orchestra, Music Director Marin Alsop
and our very own OrchKids performed during the
halftime show at the Ravens-Steelers Thanksgiving
night game in a sold-out stadium of more than
70,000 fans and nationally broadcast on NBC. They joined the
Ravens' Cheerleaders and Marching Band, performing a medley of
classical and popular music, featuring Ride of the Valkyries, Night on
Bald Mountain, Metallica's Enter Sandman and finally, Baltimore's
unofficial anthem Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. This was
the first time the BSO has partnered with the Ravens and marked
their first appearance at M&T Bank Stadium.
With thanks and appreciation to the BSO's halftime show sponsors:
