SHAPING A SHIPYARD Archaeological excavations uncovered the remains of a main wharf with a bulkhead over 165-ft long that separated the repair yard from the cove. The wharf was constructed of large timbers that still had plank decking attached. The excavations also found a construction/launch way area to the west of the repair yard, and the site of the “ships house” to the north.
