Fleet Week New York 2019 began with the annual Parade of Ships sailing on the Hudson River through New York Harbor. There was an 11 gun salute at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. Among the vessels celebrating the 31st year of Fleet Week, USCGC Lawrence O. Lawson, docked at Intrepid's Pier 86. The arrival of ship officially kicks off the U.S. Navy's Fleet week festivities, including public tours of the USCG Lawrence Lawson and USCG Katherine Walker in Staten Isand. Over 100 Auxiliarists volunteered as many hours assisting with tours and Public Affairs booths at both locations during the one week event.

In addition, Auxiliary Food Service personnel prepared meals for the crew on board and in the galley of the Coast Guard cutters.

DSO-PA and Special Events DDC Dave Mooney coordinated the Auxiliarists from D1SR. Thousands of visitors enjoyed tours of the vessels. Auxiliarist participation allowed active duty crew to enjoy liberty during the week, and as always, enjoy chow prepared by Auxiliary Food Service specialists.

Visitors received briefings aboard the bridge of the Lawrence Lawson.
