The Coast Guard Auxiliary Band - Long Island, New York, performed military music during the memorial ceremony on Pearl Harbor Day, The event, "Dropping of The Roses" Memorial Ceremony tradition was started in 1970 by the late Joseph Stanley Hyudrusko to honor his fallen comrades. This tradition honors all Pear Harbor Veterans who served during past and present conflicts.

The Skytypers of New York flew vintage WW II aircraft from Republic Airport at 12:00 noon to New York Harbor where they dropped Seventy American Beauty Roses over the Statue of Liberty at precisely 12:55PM to commemorate the exact time of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
