TEAM COAST GUARD

Summer’s finally here. Our boats are in the water, we’re out on patrol and our teams are busy with so many activities from vessel exams to program visits to area familiarization flights to getting the word out to our paddle craft boaters.

It truly wouldn’t be summer in D1 South if there weren’t a number of exciting and fun filled events on the calendar.

Coast Guard Day! August 4th marked 227 years of service by the Coast Guard and Sector New York hosted a huge Coast Guard Day celebration at the SECNY Courtyard.

A number of Auxiliarists assisted and joined our Coast Guard Family in the celebration. The day featured rides, kids crafts, a face painter, live music and a magician. See more on Page 58.

The Eagle was in town! The Barque Eagle, our military’s only active tall ship was in Manhatten August 11-13th. Thank you to all assisted Active duty while the Eagle was in Port.

A special salute to Team Coast Guard at Citifield! The New York Mets have set Friday September 8th as Team Coast Guard Day and will be honoring all Coast Guard forces.

The Mets will be hosting the Cincinnati Reds and it’s also T-shirt Day. There will be on-field pregame festivities including a Team Coast Guard Color Guard presentation and our own Auxiliary Band concert on the Plaza.

Tickets are only $25.00! Bring you family! Bring your friends. Come out and support this great evening. To order your tickets: www.cgaucoysterbay.org.

I look forward to seeing each of you at these great events and we support our fourth cornerstone, fellowship.
