OVER THE BOW Summer 2016

The Auxiliary turned out in strong support of the Open House in New Haven.

OAST GUARD Sector Long

Island Sound opened its

base to the public on Saturday 16 May for the annual Open House, marking the opening of Safe Boating Week and Armed Forces Day.

Governor Dannel Malloy has designated this year's season in Connecticut as "Connecticut's Coast Guard Summer" in honor of it's 225- year lifesaving legacy.

Sherry Dobrin FC 07-02 Norwalk CT, sang the National Anthem. Joining the Coast Guard were Port Partners and Auxiliary members who provided an array of boating safety and safety equipment to the boating public visitors. "Coastie" made his annual appearance to entertain the young (all ages) in nautical conversations.

The Coast Guard Jazz Ensemble also delighted visitors with pop music.

Supporting the event were Station New Haven, AIDS to Navigation New Haven, Research and Development Center, Coast Guard recruiting, Flotilla 72 and its Water Quality Team, Coast Guard Museum Representatives, Connecticut State Police Marine and Dive Team, DEEP, New Haven Sea Scouts and Marine Cadets. All enjoyed the BBQ served up by Sector Long Island Sound.
