38 OVER THE BOW - Spring 2016

While many of these dramatic developments were taking place, the more standard endeavors were also rigorously pursued. Flotilla 14-04 has traditionally been our stalwart provider of facilities, coxswains and crew for regularly scheduled safety patrols. That unit and the newer Flotilla 14-06 have diligently mounted VE, PV, PE and PA efforts of which we are justifiably proud. We expect and urge everyone to contribute.

Under the capable direction of Sherry Kisver, who in addition to her District duties, is also our SO-MT, we have emulated D-Train on the Division level, bringing the benefit of day-long discussions, tabletop exercises and presentations directly to the majority of division members.

Jane Pride, our SO-PA, has developed a strong relationship with local media and has extended our public outreach efforts to non-traditional target audiences in well received goodwill

programs. This has garnered exposure for the Coast Guard and the Auxiliary as a caring community member in area hospitals, and at events benefitting the disadvantaged. We have also exposed our boating safety message this year at the premiere showing of the movie The Finest Hours, and solidified a relationship with the local Regal Crown Theater for future events. This had also been done several years ago by the bridge of Flotilla 14-06 for the premiere of the movie The Guardian.

There is so much more to describe about Division 14, its dedication, resolve and creativity. I am sure that someone one day will be recounting the first 100 years of Division 14!
