Topped off and fed, AUXAIR 29T took off on the leg to Orlando at 1245 and flew direct to Orlando Executive Airport (ORL).

The “Turtle Flight” arrived at ORL at 1700 and

was met by the rescue team from Sea World and a camera crew from a local TV station. All 24 turtles had survived the flight and after evaluation were released to the warm waters off the Florida coast.

The pilots on this mission are both experienced AuxAir pilots and qualified as Aircraft Commanders. As a result of their exemplary service they will henceforth be known as “Ninja Turtle Pilots”.

The question is often asked “What does the Auxiliary do?” It is a tough question to answer because it does so much. I think we have to add saving endangered turtles to the long list.

Perhaps a better question is “What can’t the Auxiliary do?”

Not much!
