AROLE RYDER has never been a stranger to public service. During
her 35-year career as a Biologist with the Nassau County
Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums, she found time to
simultaneously serve 30 years with the New York State Guard, retiring last year at the rank of Colonel. Even now, as an Adjunct Professor at Nassau Community College, her boundless volunteer spirit has steered her toward continued service, now in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. I had long known of Carole’s rich career and volunteerism, but what I didn’t know was just how active and integral she now is to the active duty Coast Guard operations of Station Jones Beach.
