Avalanche Awareness Clinic
Fri ., Jan . 12th ( evening ) & Sat ., Jan . 13th Join OP for a weekend clinic on how to travel safely in avalanche terrain . Friday evening will be spent in the classroom learning such topics as snowpack evaluation , avalanche danger factors , and backcountry decision making . Saturday will be spent applying the classroom lessons in the winter environment . Sign up begins Monday , January 8th . Cost : $ 25 . Includes transportation , instruction and equipment .
Introduction to Ice Climbing
Sat ., Jan . 20th Join the OP instructor crew for a day of ice climbing at a local area north of Durango . This clinic is a great way to try the exhilarating sport of ice climbing as we learn the techniques used to safely climb frozen water falls . All levels and abilities are welcome . Learn to Snowboard or Telemark Ski
Sun ., Jan . 21st Ever wanted to learn how to snowboard or telemark ski ? Outdoor Pursuits will offer this introductory ride / slide clinic at Durango Mountain Resort . This will be a great opportunity to try a new sport or hone some existing skills . Sign-up begins Monday , January 15th . Cost : $ 40 . Avalanche 1 Course — Hut Based Wed ., Jan . 24th ( evening ), Fri ., Jan . 26th to Sun ., Jan . 28th With the winter environment right at our doorstep , we will learn the essentials of avalanche science and how to stay safe while enjoying winter in the backcountry . Participants completing this 24 hour course will receive an Avalanche Level 1 certificate of completion . Sign-up begins Monday , January 15th . Cost : $ 300.00 . Full Moon Snowshoe Adventure

Intro to Backcountry Skiing / Riding
Sat ., Feb . 10th Let OP introduce you to backcountry skiing / riding in the beautiful San Juans . We will cover topics that include : use of skins , how to lay a skin track , and safe route / line selection . We will be skiing / riding advanced-beginner through intermediate terrain — not steep , avalanche prone slopes . Sign up begins Monday , February 5th . Cost : $ 20 . Disco Night @ the Climbing Wall — A Bouldering Comp Thr ., Feb . 15th from 7 to 10 PM Get your groove on and head on down to the climbing wall for an evening of climbing and funky music . This low key bouldering competition is open to all levels and abilities . Cost : Free !
Molas Pass Cross Country Ski Tour
