Marmot’s line of EVODry waterproof jackets and pants are the most sustainable ones the company has ever made. The waterproof shell is made from industrial nylon waste that has been upcycled into new yarn.

What: A line of rainwear made with upcycled yarns, a water-free process, and no PFCs. EVODry products include Marmot’s men’s and women’s Eclipse Jacket and Pant, with a waterproof and breathable 2.5-layer EvoDry MemBrain® fabric. The finish never wears out or needs reapplication.

Why: Marmot set out to make EVODry products in ways that reduce carbon emissions and unnecessary water, energy, and chemical use.

How: The upcycled yarn uses less petroleum and energy than what creating new yarn typically requires, but it retains the strength and durability of virgin material. The yarn also is solution-dyed, which gives it excellent colorfastness and consistency and reduces the water and energy needed. It reduces the use of harmful dyes by 85 percent.
