22 JAN/FEB 2019 23 I owe Mt. Hood so much. It shaped the way I ride, and informed much of my art and designs.” P: Aaron Blatt All photos to left by Nimbus Independent Where do you see yourself in the ski industry in the coming years? Professional skier or more of a designer/creator for the brands you represent? I’ve been so fortunate to be able to ac- tually design the equipment that I pro- mote. It’s rare that an athlete is given that opportunity. Personally that has motivated me to really pour my ideas and time into the equipment I create. My plan for the future is to continue to create more innovative gear, and ski that gear. Your art has always been inspiring but has developed even more over the years, are you spending more time in the studio or is it still just a hobby for you? I do a lot of drawing and painting for design work. However, most of my time is spent making films. It’s the me- dium I feel I can best communicate my perspective with the world. With that said, I hope to begin work on a new series soon. What do you have in the works for the future, more art, book, movies? When can we expect to see them? Yes, I’m currently working toward a film and book about art and design. It’s a passion project, and I hope to release it fall of 2019. What is the biggest inspiration for your art? Skiing? Traveling? Family? I find inspiration in everything. Life is a constant source to draw from. I have too many ideas, and not enough time. Have you passed your passion for skiing on to your kids? So far so good. My oldest is seven, and she is frothing for winter. My youngest is two and already has a sea- son of skiing and snowboarding under her belt. We will see where it leads them, but it has already been worth it!
