Outcomes 2017 - Baylor Heart and Vascular Services FY2017 | Page 75

As a result of the historic collaboration between Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital and Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth, Baylor Heart and Vascular Services at Fort Worth continues to expand the service offerings for cardiac patients within the 26,000 square foot diagnostic and treatment center including the four heart catheterization and electrophysiology labs. The significant capital expended in prior fiscal years and during fiscal year 2017 helped propel the ability to deliver enhanced cardiovascular services. The cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology rooms realized record-breaking volumes; reinforcing the continued need for additional programs and services. For example, during fiscal year 2017, the cardiologists on the medical staff and the clinical leadership worked together to launch the Valve Disorders Center and Heart Rhythm Center. The Valve Disorders Center takes a unique approach to the care pathway for aortic stenosis patients. Every patient is assessed by a multidisciplinary team of interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons working together with imaging specialists and the nursing team. As much as possible, the patient’s diagnostic work-up and assessment is completed in a single visit; facilitated by a dedicated nursing navigator. The center is capable of offering specialized interventions including: • Minimally invasive repair and replacement using sternal sparing, port-access approaches • Transcatheter mitral valve repair • Evaluation of mitral valve repair over replacement • Available in fiscal year 2018: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) Total PCI cases (FY17) Diagnostic cases (FY17) Source: CPM/DMS STEMI STATS Door-to-balloon time for those who experience a ST- segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is an important measurement. Baylor Heart and Vascular Services at Fort Worth in fiscal year 2017 had a median time for immediate PCI for STEMI patients of 57 minutes. While this i s better than national average, there are continual efforts to work closely with transferring facilities around Tarrant and surrounding counties to improve the door-to-balloon time. The national guideline remains 90 minutes. For the second year in a row, Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth earned Cycle V Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. It is the highest designation for heart attack care, and recognizes Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth for using best care practices that allow clinicians to reduce time to treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack. Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth has advanced cardiac imaging available on a 512-slice CT scanner. The CT angiography available with this CT is an important piece of the care continuum for Baylor Heart and Vascular Services at Fort Worth. With the skill of the cardiac surgeons on the medical staff at Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth and their collaboration with the cardiologists, a record-number of mitral valve surgeries were completed in fiscal year 2017. Cardiac surgery is performed within the Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth operating suites. Today, the Mitral Valve Disease Center is available to treat patients with mitral stenosis, mitral regurgitation and mitral valve prolapse. Working together, interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons on the medical staff treat both degenerative mitral valve disease as well as functional mitral valve conditions. 1,570 541 1,029 Cardiac catheterization cases (FY17) Interventional Cardiology – Fort Worth 73
