The clinical team at Fort Worth experienced 100 percent
retention for pre- and post-procedural care nursing areas
in fiscal year 2017. More than 90 percent of the team
have a Bachelor’s degree or higher related to their clinical
areas. Two advanced practice nurses worked closely
with the medical staff in the daily care of cardiovascular
patients. More than 50 percent of the clinical team have
at least one national certification.
Sharing best practices across the system and within the
Fort Worth medical community is an important part of
the culture. Weekly, a multidisciplinary team of cardiac
surgeons, interventional cardiologists, imaging specialists,
and others meet to discuss valve disorder cases and plan,
patient-by-patient, the best course of treatment. This
gathering is sponsored by the Valve Disorders Center.
Every week, the Fort Worth group of sonographers leads
an Echocardiography Conference that provides specific
education and case updates.
In addition, many of the nurses involved in pre- and
post-care for cardiovascular patients provide regular
educational inservices to the clinical team at Baylor Scott
& White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth. In
fiscal year 2017, more than 24 learning opportunities
were provided in collaboration with cardiologists on the
medical staff and dually coordinated with the hospital-
wide education department.
Regarding the growth for Baylor Heart and Vascular
Services at Fort Worth, Medical Director for Non-
Invasive Cardiology, Arun Padala, MD, FACC, says it has
been a year for enhanced focus on sharing best practices
within multidisciplinary groups. “We’ve enhanced the
Non-Invasive Cardiology programs and services; launched
a weekly Echo Conference, and provided extensive
outreach to the community offering more education
about heart health and disease management than ever
before in our history. We’ve received positive feedback
for this multidisciplinary approach and look forward to
expanding the program.”
Cardiac Rehabilitation – fort worth
At the end of fiscal year 2017, Baylor Hamilton Heart
and Vascular Hospital worked closely with Baylor Scott
& White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth
to complete an agreement to add the established and
well-respected Carter Rehabilitation Center for cardiac
and pulmonary rehabilitation into the continuum of
cardiovascular care oversight by the specialty hospital
medical staff and operational leadership. “The close
collaboration that developed over the past several years
with Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth and the
cardiology medical staff led us to a mutual decision to
enhance cardiac rehabilitation services in Fort Worth,”

Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital. “We
look forward to bringing the Return to Work® program
to Tarrant County area patients as well as providing

and expertise of Fort Worth cardiologist, Sam Nassar,
DO, as the medical director. His passion for helping
patients reach their fullest possible recovery potential
through cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation will help the
program in Fort Worth grow in reputation and strength.”
