Baylor Heart and Vascular Services at Dallas – a collaboration between Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital and Baylor University Medical Center – continues to grow in volume and recognition. Patients are traveling from near and far to seek the expertise and treatment of the Baylor Dallas Cardiovascular Surgical Program for its quality outcomes and wide-array of treatment options. Recognized as “High Performing” in Heart Bypass Surgery and Aortic Valve Surgery by U.S. News & World Report, Baylor Dallas remains one of the top surgical programs in the United States. Bypass Surgery Number of CABG Cases FY17 298 FY16 The most common type of cardiovascular surgery in the United States is coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). In fiscal year 2017, cardiac surgeons on the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas performed 298 CABGs resulting in an average length of stay of 6.2 days. Open heart remains the most common approach, however other options may be available for certain patients. Proficient in various types of bypass grafting, the surgeons on the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center continue to seek advances in this surgery which will benefit patients. Off-pump bypass surgery reduces risk to the patient by allowing the heart to continue beating and circulating blood throughout the body during the procedure.
