Advanced Heart Failure
Approximately 450,000 people in the United States will
be diagnosed with heart failure this year; and the number
of cases will grow as Baby Boomers age. The Heart
Failure Society of America calls heart failure America’s
silent epidemic. This is because many people with heart
failure assume that their symptoms, such as fatigue and
shortness of breath, are normal signs of aging.
The heart specialists on the medical staff at Baylor Heart
and Vascular Services at Dallas are dedicated to bringing
advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities to more heart
failure patients. These efforts include providing a variety of
implantable and external mechanical assist devices, conducting
innovative research to investigate new technologies and
medicines to improve the quality of life for heart failure patients
and strengthening and expanding the heart transplant program.

As our Advanced Heart Failure Program
continues to progress in research and
technology, Baylor University Medical
Center offers a variety of treatment
options for your heart. With more
options, we are able to treat some of the
most complex cases and help patients
turned away by other medical centers.
