The Joint Commission Re-Accreditation 2014
The Joint Commission standards address Baylor
Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital’s level of
performance in key functional areas, such as patient
rights, patient treatment and infection control. The standards
focus not simply on the hospital’s ability to provide safe,
quality care, but on actual performance metrics as well. The
standards set forth performance expectations for activities that
affect the safety and quality of patient care.
The Joint Commission – Top Performers on
Key Quality Measures
Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital
made a list of 405 hospitals and critical-access
facilities nationwide ranked as top performers based on 22
measures related to cardiac, pneumonia, surgical and pediatric
asthma care. To make the list and be named a top performer,
a hospital had to earn a compliance score of at least 95 percent
on two measurements to be named a top performer.
ACE-accredited for PCI and CC
Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital has
been fully accredited for percutaneous coronary
intervention and cardiac catheterization by the
Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence, an
organization dedicated to ensuring adherence to
the highest quality standards for cardiovascular
and endovascular care. ACE accreditation involves
a review of an organization’s structure, internal processes,
patient safety practices, and clinical outcomes to determine
if it meets the standards established by experts in cardiac and
endovascular care.
Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care
Chest Pain Center with PCI
Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular
Hospital has full Chest Pain Center with PCI
accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular
Patient Care (SCPC). This accreditation indicates
that a hospital has achieved a higher level of expertise in caring
for patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack.

Intersocietal Commission for the
Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories
(ICAVL)
ICAVL accredits facilities that perform
comprehensive noninvasive testing for vascular disease.
It is reserved for quality programs like Baylor Hamilton Heart
and Vascular Hospital’s vascular lab which assess every aspect
of daily operation and its impact on the quality of health care.
Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation
of Echo Laboratories (ICAEL)
Echocardiography laboratories can evaluate and
demonstrate the level of quality patient care they
provide through the ICAEL accreditation process.
The application undergoes a peer-review by the ICAEL’s
trained reviewers, including both physicians and sonographers,
and accreditation is given to laboratories that demonstrate a
commitment to quality and operational excellence.
Gold Seal for CT Imaging
Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital has
been accredited in computed tomography (CT) by
The American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR
gold seal of accreditation represents Baylor Hamilton Heart
and Vascular Hospital’s commitment to providing the highest
level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only
to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical
Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified
physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility
equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance
programs are assessed.
American Association of Cardiovascular
and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR)
Certification
AACVPR has certified Baylor Hamilton Heart
and Vascular Hospital’s cardiovascular rehabilitation program.
AACVPR is dedicated to the professional development of its
