CLINICAL CARDIOLOGY FELLOWSHIP
This ACGME accredited program participates in the National Residency Match Program . New in fiscal year 2016 , three positions are offered annually for a 3-year position in the clinical fellowship program . Training is broad-based and includes experience in the coronary care unit , cardiac surgical intensive care , cardiac catheterization laboratory , cardiac electrophysiology laboratory , cardiac noninvasive laboratory , peripheral vascular labs . Fellows gain extensive experience in electrocardiography , echocardiography , rhythm monitoring , stress testing , including exercise and pharmacologic stress testing , nuclear imaging , peripheral vascular imaging , cardiac computed coronary angiography , magnetic resonance imaging , pacemaker and cardio defibrillator implantation and programming . Coordinating with the busy Baylor University Medical Center Emergency Department medical staff , fellows gain experience in emergency cardiovascular care .
Active participation in research projects , exposure to clinical trials , and authorship on original scientific publications assists the cardiovascular disease fellows with developing critical thinking to be applied for innovative cardiovascular treatment and care in the future . Baylor fellows are challenged to integrate data into well-communicated , evidence-based patient consultations ; remaining mindful of the unique features of each and every patient . Fellows also have exposure to the Baylor Tom Landry Health and Wellness Center and the Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation and Return to Work programs .
