Well it’s more the reason Superman’s unpopular. After all, considering humour and action sequences, Marvel movies are pretty on-point. But when all the explosions die out, the Marvel superheroes are all jerks. They only come to help the world when the problem directly relates to them. Meanwhile, Batman’s saving the denizens of Gotham from subway muggings and Superman’s fetching cats out of trees. Still the majority of the American public prefers
the dysfunctional Ocean’s-esque Avengers squad to Superman, even though the semi-recent Superman movie Man of Steel honed all the witticism and violence that makes Marvel movies great. So why, when compared to those I meet who’ve seen Avengers, only a quarter have ever watched Man of Steel? In fact whenever I mention Man of Steel, people are always prepared to lecture why Superman’s the worst superhero ever. All of them (and I mean 100% of them) list two reasons: 1) he’s too powerful, and 2) he’s too good.
People are complacent, and it’s the reason Marvel movies are popular.
