Children’s birthdays are a very special event, so a birthday cake is provided for those children in the Centre. We provide a range of alternatives for those children with allergies. Supervision The Centre maintains high levels of supervision of the children at all times. The staff to child ratio is kept in accordance with the Education and Care Services National regulations 2012. Children must stay within the Centre boundaries. These are clearly identified and a plan is located on the Centre’s notice board. Guiding Children’s Behaviour Learning appropriate behaviour is part of any child’s social development. Parents/Carers are encouraged to discuss their child’s behaviour with the Centre Coordinator to ensure consistent behaviour expectations between home and the Centre. The staff will focus on positive behaviour and where possible prevent problems before they arise. Please see the Centre’s Behaviour Management Policy. Emergency Procedure Rehearsals Emergency Evacuation and Lock Down procedures will be practised termly. Vacation Care Excursions Excursions are a fun part of the Vacation Care program. Written permission is required from parents and details of outings will be provided in writing. Please remember that when we are on excursions, we are unable to take children to shops or cafes unless booked in and part of the program. We are unable to staff children to visit these areas and we encourage children not to bring money into the Centre. When on excursions, the children wear clearly marked Hi-Vis vests to identify that they are part of Guildford Grammar School OSHC. Bathroom Policy • • • • • Boys and girls always use separate toilets No more than one child at a time in the toilet Ensure hands are washed after use of the toilet Ensure privacy by closing the toilet door On outings no child will go alone to the toilet and always with adult supervision. Health & Safety Issues The Centre has its own OH&S supervisor who monitors and maintains all aspects of health and safety. Universal hygiene procedures will be followed at the Centre at all times to control and/or prevent the spread of infection. All staff will maintain a high level of personal hygiene. Please see the Centre policy for Occupational Health & Safety. Unwell Children at the Centre The Centre is not able to care for children who are ill. Parents/ Carers will be contacted if their child is unwell and it is expected that the child is collected as soon as is practicable. 9
