So how do you know what is the cause?

One thing that can really be of benefit is to keep a diary of your dog’s activities – sometimes you can see a pattern for allergic breakouts – list everything where they have been, what food they have eaten, remembering treats as well.

For me clear patterns were forming – continual rashes after going to a particular beach, vomiting after being given a human treat of a sausage, vomiting after being fed a grain based kibble, rashes after eating beef or beef based treats and of course wandering dew – I equate 5 seconds in wandering dew to 5 days of itchy rashes! Once you’ve seen the pattern you can adjust and go forward omitting the allergens.

So what about grass allergies?

Obviously it’s a bit hard to omit this from their day but you can help your dog by washing their feet, undercarriage after walks. I use 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of sterile water (boil and cool)

clean and pat dry. This helps remove pollens, keeps the area clean and from being further irritated. You can use oatmeal baths – I used to grind up oats, mix with water and apply to the skin before walks. It is very messy though so I’d do this outside – leaving a trail of porridge behind us – lol. Both of these soothe the areas but they don’t relieve the itch which is what is needed to contain rashes. The itch/scratch cycle must be broken otherwise one tiny itchy pustule will turn into a full blown rash by the dog scratching, biting, slurping and licking.

During this time (of my allergy dog hell) we had launched our skin health product called Salveez relieving eczema and rashes in people. So we spent some time conducting extensive research on what was safe to use for pets, conducting trials, collating our data and with all the success of happy dog owners we launched Eezapet 2 years later at the SPCA opening in Wellington in 2014.

Now, 2017, Eezapet has been used by thousands of pet parents throughout New Zealand, Australia, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand. You can find many testimonials here.

We are on a mission for a scratch free world - come join us!

With the soothing and calming properties of Eezapet your pet is at peace and the active herbals start working on healing the area at the same time. Eezapet is safe to use on broken skin – this is important because a dog, for example, will itch until they bleed so you need a safe topical treatment.

Eezapet has a high concentration of herbs in a beeswax base and it’s both the herb’s individual properties and the properties of the herbs as a collective that make Eezapet effective. It has been a long process for me and Coco and we still have a few plant allergies but now it is easily contained with the use of Eezapet. Case studies from the SPCA vets showed that it stops itching within 5-15

minutes Always ‘spot’ check your dog and apply Eezapet at first

signs of any itching this keeps rashes at bay right from the start –

far easier than trying to contain a full blown rash. I have written

many blogs to help you understand allergies, allergens and
