He waited … and he waited, he waited a bit more.

The world was quiet. The world was calm. But he was a little sore.

He opened one eye, then the other, all seemed well and good,

Into the bush bunny hurried, as quickly as he could.

There were trees all over the place, so tall and so slim.

In the darkness underneath them bunny felt quite grim.

He was sad and he was lonely. What was he to do?

Should he go or should he stay? He did not have a clue.

There were things and there were shadows. Of what, he couldn’t tell.

When tumble tumble, trip and bumble, down the bunny fell.

He landed into a strange new world full of dazzling light,

Looking around, his heart rejoiced. He marveled at the sight.

The meadow was full of brown bunnies simply having fun,

Some were running, some were jumping, some basking in the sun.

Our chocolate bunny joined their play, he ran and he jumped too.

He had the most fun he ever had, the most he ever knew.

After a while he grew tired, he rested on the ground.

He was happy; he was pleased that new friends he had found.

Enjoying the sunshine’s warmth he pondered at the source.

What do you think happened next? He melted, of course!!!

I am a mum to an amazing two year old young lady. I am originally from the Czech Republic but have lived in Auckland for almost 10 years now with my kiwi husband. I am an early childhood teacher by profession (currently running a little home based care so that I can be with my daughter for as long as possible). In my spare time I enjoy making jewellery, my necklaces are quite unique and bright; as well as doing a bit of writing. Rhyming is something I've done for as long as I remember and seeing a poem develop makes me very happy.
