Born from the POP ( Protect Our Pavements ) campaign five years ago this spring , which succeeded in stopping Hounslow Council replacing paving stones with tarmac in the Glebe Estate and Alphabet Streets areas , the residents ’ association is still going strong .
Faced with the threat of major change to the street scene , locals rallied . One recalls : “ I spent hours canvassing , going door to door along four streets , ensuring we spoke to every household . Residents researched an 18-page
