residents.” Community activist and
resident Karen Liebreich notes,
“The Cycle Superhighway has been
blown up out of all proportion, and
has become a political and religious
football, which is most unfortunate
and ridiculous. It’s basically a very
good thing.” TFL are currently
analysing over 5k responses to the
consultation and Hounslow Council
believe, “It is evident that some
elements of the scheme will need to
be revised for it to be acceptable…
A decision for the revised scheme
will not be taken until the summer.”

Fosters Book Shop is the longest
established business on the High
Road, trading for 50 years. Owned
by Stephen Foster, it boasts one of
the best book collections in London.
Undoubtedly the most contentious
topic in Chiswick, plans for the
Cycle Superhighway, or CS9,
continue to develop.
Councillor Sam Hearn, who has
represented his constituents for
a decade, says, “The key point is
within TFL’s own consultation: the
scheme will increase pollution on
the high road and divert traffic
onto the A4 which is already
heavily polluted and congested. In
principle, it’s an excellent idea but
the unfortunate result will be an
even poorer air quality for Chiswick
