Next month sees the launch of another burst of holiday activity in the borough , with the Let Me Play youth training company co-ordinating a programme from October 28 . It follows the success of the summer ’ s free youth sport and activities , publicised in Hammersmith & Fulham Council ’ s annual Summer In The City guide , with participant numbers delighting organisers .

Let Me Play , based in Blythe Road , ran a series of events in July and August , among them a battle of the bands and swimming .
“ Numbers were very good ,” said Jessie Whippen , Let Me Play ’ s school sports and activities manager .
Aimed at 11 to 19-year-olds , the summer fun began in July with basketball camps , a make-up masterclass and musical theatre workshop .
And hugely popular were the mass football tournaments and basketball sessions in Ravenscourt Park .
Funded by the council , the summer activities appealed to all abilities , encompassing creative and performing arts and sports .
“ We had a good table tennis camp and a couple of well-attended disability sessions and art activities at Phoenix High ,” said Jessie , adding that the fashion design and cookery programmes had also been well subscribed .
Other summer distractions for teenagers included kayaking on the
Thames in Fulham Reach and gym training .
Let Me Play has also been promoting an apprenticeship scheme aiming to introduce 100 young people to work .
“ We ’ re working with aspiring , talented young people who are hungry for opportunity and driven to make a success of their lives ,” said the training company ’ s managing director Amy Lalla .
