Stacie says the age of Karaoke helped her to refine her talent , and she was soon known as Stacie-oke ! She was hired to host in bars and clubs from Portland to Fort Kent and Canada . Although she has a passion for singing , her day job for the last 20 years has been “ feet !” She owns and operates All About You Day Spa in Madawaska where she uses a holistic approach to solving foot problems .
Traditionally , “ Aroostook Idol ” and “ Northern Star ” have been singing contests . This year the United Way has once again changed things up by encouraging talents of all kinds to participate ; a sort of “ America ’ s Got Talent ,” if you will . By combining several nationally recognized talent shows , the United Way is better able to provide the audience with a full range of entertainment for those evenings .
“ We ’ d like to give that juggler a stage for his or her talent to be showcased ,” said Sherry Locke , Executive Director of the United Way of Aroostook . “ Perhaps a dance routine will add a little pizzazz to our show , or maybe a family-friendly comedian or ventriloquist would like to give this a try . We are really hoping to offer several nights of diverse talent across the County .”
This year ’ s event will be cohosted by Jason Parent ,
ACAP Executive Director and co-host for all twelve years of the event . A special , secret cohost will be named just prior to the event . Television viewers will get hints and sneak peeks as to who the second cohost will be by tuning into WAGM TV to see promotional ads for this year ’ s show . Keeping the identity of this person a secret contributes to the intrigue of the nights ’ entertainment . Audience members won ’ t exactly know who will be cohosting with Jason or just what kinds of talent they will be watching .
Northern Star 2017 ’ s preliminary competitions will be held Friday , March 3rd in Fort Kent at Fox Auditorium at 7:00pm , Saturday , March 4th at Presque Isle Middle School at 7:00pm , and Sunday , March 5th at Houlton Community Arts Center at 2:00pm . The finale , which will be held on Sunday , March 19th at the Caribou Performing Arts Center at 2:00pm , will sure to be a crowd pleaser . The twelve finalists will vie for the titled of Norther Star 2017 . The evening promises to be one full of great talent for all .
