foot space, which can currently accommodate up to 25 people, is conveniently located on the first floor of Kelley Commons (adjacent to the Campus Center) with easy accessibility through an exterior entrance and nearby parking. The center has a kitchen, restrooms, and ample storage making it a self-contained space even for all-day functions. The MMG Center will be home to UMPI’s Employer U program through which existing programs, such as American Management Association certification and the Young Professionals Institute, are delivered. Other offerings will include workshops on customer service, leadership, social media, effective communication, and other topics relevant in today’s, and tomorrow’s, workplace. CEU courses for educators are currently being offered, with plans to add CEU opportunities for other professions, such as law enforcement, to the growing list of Employer U programs. Enrichment, certification, and potentially graduate level offerings are also being explored. Athletes have the gymnasiums, performers have the theater, professors have the classrooms, artists have the gallery, and now employees throughout the region have a training center designated just for them. If you would like more information about Employer U or have program suggestions, please contact Kim Jones, UMPI Director of Employer U, at [email protected] or by calling 207.768.9459. 18 FALL 2016 Kim Jones, UMPI Employer U Director, reviews an UMPI Course Guide in the office at the new MMG Center for Professional Development.
