the chickadees, Canadian Jays and other native birds following you. It’s the perfect venue to experience nature photography and viewing. The nighttime skies are ideal for celestial viewing with virtually no light pollution. Millions of stars are visible, and occasionally the northern lights make a colorful appearance. East Grand Lake Area is a premiere place to fish for Landlocked Salmon, Lake Trout and Brook Trout in every season, but winter is special. Ice shacks dot the lake like little villages on the frozen tundra. Social interaction among the fisherman is common as everyone anxiously anticipates the next flag going up. Nothing is more exciting than running to the hole to see the reel spinning and wondering how big the fish is on the other end. There is the exhilaration of feeling the fish fight as you reel it in, hoping you’ll get it up through the hole before the line snaps and always optimistic that it’s a keeper. No matter the luck of the day, just spending time in such a peaceful location is treasured. It is often said “why would I want to go south in the winter when I have all that nature has to offer here?” If you’re looking for an adventurous or tranquil place for your winter getaway, we hope you will consider visiting the Greater East Grand Lake Area. You’ll appreciate our small town friendly atmosphere and natural beauty. Winter lodging is available at several local businesses.
