The Season is Upon Us By Amanda Hammond Setting up the Christmas tree, Hanging ornaments carefully, Running to a school play, Fixing a flat tire along the way, And The Season is upon us already this year. Hurried people all around, Familiar faces, folks from town, Friendly greetings, wishes of cheer To family and friends they hold dear, And The Season is upon us already this year. Stores are all crazy, with no place to park. Who scratched my car door and left a big mark? The aisles are crammed, leaving no room to walk. Several cashiers stand around just to talk. And The Season is upon us already this year. Cooking and baking all night and all day, Last minute running all out of the way, Presents all wrapped and under the Christmas tree, Time to sit down, take a minute for me, As The Season is upon us already this year. Family comes from near and far, Driving home in their new car. They stay a week, sometimes for two. The dog they brought ate my shoe! And The Season is upon us already this year. Presents all open and dinner all done, It is time to play games and have some fun, Put little ones to bed with prayers all said, Get food for dog who forgot to be fed Thank goodness The Season is over until next year! 22 FALL 2014
