TAMC Helps Bring Healthy, Fun Activities to the Community “We are more than just a place to go when you are sick or injured,” said Dawn Poitras, co-chair of TAMC’s Total Health Team. “As the largest, most comprehensive healthcare provider in The County, we strive to not only help our friends and neighbors with their healthcare needs, but to help them lead healthier lifestyles so that those needs are fewer.” With that in mind, TAMC has become a strong supporter of many community activities across the seasons that encourage adults and children to get outdoors and get active. Whether it be providing financial support, helping with promotion, garnering volunteers or coordinating logistics, TAMC is putting its resources behind numerous events each year that inspire healthy choices. One such effort currently underway is The County Fit and Fun Summer Series. TAMC has joined forces with the University of Maine at Presque Isle, CompetitorME and Healthy Aroostook for a series of triathlon and run/walk events in northern Maine this summer for all ages and ability levels. The summer series began at the end of June with the return of the popular Tri-Aroostook for adults and the addition of a new Tri-Aroostook Kids later the same day. The events combined swimming, biking and running. For children who missed this opportunity, the Participants in last year’s REDY, Set, summer series also ends with a youth triathlon. The Lets Go!
