THE VOLUNTEERS
After the close of the 2014 Youth / Junior World Biathlon Champtionships at the Nordic Heritage Centre in Presque
Isle, I felt compelled to bring some attention to the real heroes of this amazing competition. Sure the athletes were
outstanding including Sean Doherty here (left) who brought home two golds and a silver, a notable result for U.S.
Biathlon at any level, but the most amazing thing to me was the people off the course. When biathlon comes to town,
a small army of dedicated volunteers assemble from all walks of life to make magic happen. The following pages are
dedicated to them, and we hope their faces tell the story of the impression the citizens of Aroostook County made on
our visitors from around the world. -Editor
