Homecoming 2012 A free barbecue sponsored by NMCC’s Student Senate drew a wide range of students, alumni, employees and community members. Folks from across generations enjoyed the food and music during the event that kicked off two days of activities during NMCC’s Homecoming on September 6 & 7. Music by Tim the Tune Man added to the festive atmosphere at the Homecoming barbecue. Students from NMCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa held a fundraiser during Homecoming for their ‘Connect to Complete’ efforts, a program PTK initiated last year in conjunction with the Academic Success Center to build connections between students and their peers and between students and faculty in order to help students succeed. 74 SUMMER 2012 NMCC Alumni & Campus Celebrate Homecoming The mood on the Northern Maine Community College campus was festive during Homecoming on September 6 & 7. “Homecoming was identified right away as one of the first activities we wanted to take on when the NMCC Alumni & Friends Organization was created three years ago,” said Cindy Albert ‘84, who has helped coordinate each of the Homecomings held at the college over the past three years. “It’s a great way to draw alumni and community members to campus, as well as to provide some fun activities for our current students.” On Thursday, September 7, alumni, campus and community members were invited to a free barbecue dinner sponsored by the NMCC Student Senate. From young to old, all had the opportunity to enjoy a great meal while listening to music provided by DJ Tim the Tune Man. Many stayed after dinner to take part in or to watch a softball game between a team of
