Pandorum Theatre Company tackles difficult to
discuss subjects through the medium of comedy,
with the goal of making the taboo manageable.
Founded in 2015, the company has since
produced three shows and has been shortlisted
for the Scottish Arts Club Theatre Awards.
The company started following my Performance Project 3 module
at the start of my third year of study. This continued when we
chose to set up a hypothetical business for our Arts Funding
and Policy module and decided to make our company a reality.
We subsequently decided to apply for funding from QMU’s
Student Development Fund and set up a crowdfunding page
for our first production, “Daniel Sinclair”, at the Edinburgh
Fringe. The company expanded when it merged with Facepalm
Theatre, a company created for the Professional Practice and
Development module in fourth year at the beginning of 2017.
We are currently working towards developing our existing
production to put on at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
“I started this company alongside my studies as
simply having a degree in itself is not enough to
get work in the creative field. It meant that I could
produce the kind of theatre I feel needs to be made
and take on a variety of roles in its creation.”
