The Business Gateway is a Scotland-wide service which offers
free and impartial advice and support to small business start-ups.
QMU is the first Scottish university to host an on-campus Business
Gateway office, which is managed by East Lothian Council.
This innovative partnership exemplifies QMU’s commitment
to supporting the development of small and medium-sized
enterprises and to assisting entrepreneurial students and
graduates considering setting up their own businesses.
Robbie set his first business up when he was 16 organising musical events in
Edinburgh. His passion for music continued and after graduation he set up a record
shop in Glasgow. He then embarked on a corporate career which led him to move
to Australia. The entrepreneurial spirit had not left him, and he set up his third
business in 2005. Robbie sold the business and returned to Scotland in 2015.
Steve also started early – having worked in the family business, then setting up
an e-commerce sports memorabilia business upon graduating in 2000. He has
worked across many industry sectors, and been lucky enough to work with some very
exciting start-up businesses over many years.
“We are passionate about our partnership
with QMU. We are the only Business Gateway
based in a university and it gives us a unique
opportunity to work with new entrepreneurs
and help support students and staff as they
embark on their entrepreneurial journey.”
