SPECIFIC PROJECT OR INITIATIVE
The Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR)
“I love doing research but I am particularly
interested in research that can improve the
quality of our criminal justice system and
satisfaction with it. Partnering with Police
Scotland ensures my research addresses real
challenges in our community.”
I am interested in maximising the quality of evidence obtained in police
investigations, given the nature of human memory and decision making. Actively
seeking opportunities to connect and work with public services like Police Scotland
can be advantageous for you, the public service, and the community.
Understanding the policy-making process and the wider contexts in which policies are situated is critical,
along with presenting research in accessible ways. Developing an understanding of an organisation and
their priorities, considering the challenges they face from their perspective, and thinking creatively
about how you can further your agenda and the organisation’s priorities is key.
As the QMU Academic Champion for Entrepreneurship in Psychology and Sociology, I promote and nurture
the skills of communication, engagement and sharing of research in my teaching and mentorship.
