For Young adventurers The Canadian Museum of History is also home to the Canadian Children ’ s Museum , where kids can embark on The Great Adventure , which offers a world tour via intricate exhibits , cities , and fortresses of all sizes — including a maze of Egyptian pyramids . It ’ s the perfect place to disappear for a few hours . Funhaven is all in the name . Activities include laser tag , mountain climbing , a jungle gym , and an arcade — enough to exhaust even the most energetic of kids . For older children , another great way to get your heart rate up is the Great Canadian Bungee where there are also stunt training sessions and ziplines to barrel down . Close your eyes and jump ! Or just jump ! The Ottawa River has some of the most sought-after whitewater rapids for amateurs and pros alike . Ottawa City Rafting attracts whitewater wanderers of all skill , and includes a centrally-located tour departing multiple times
daily from Britannia Bay , just minutes from downtown . It ’ s also a wet , wild way to bring families together . Remember , you ’ re all in the same boat ! Water lovers can also get their fix at Calypso , Canada ’ s biggest theme waterpark ( p . 28 ), located a 35-minute drive east of Ottawa in the counties of Prescott-Russell .
For the wild child At Valleyview Little Animal Farm you will find furry and feathered friends like alpacas , ducks , geese and goats . Explore the creative farm playground while riding a miniature train , head to the farm museum to learn about the history of agriculture , or have lunch in the Sunflower Café . The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is just south of downtown Ottawa , and offers a working farm and a farm-themed playground . Hop on a wagon or go for a tractor ride , watch cows being milked , and pet a baby goat . Slither over to Little Ray ’ s Reptile Zoo for alligators , snakes , turtles , lizards , and more . Parc Oméga in nearby Québec and the Canadian Museum of Nature ( p . 24 ) downtown are two other prime locations to heed the call of the wild .
