MoToRcoAch iNfoRMATioN Picking Up Passengers at the Ottawa International Airport At the Ottawa International Airport , Motor Coaches will pick up passengers in the Pre Arranged Pickup Area located on the inner , Commercial Curb . There are gates located at the entrances to the commercial roadway , and Motor Coaches must go through the gates . Many local and returning Motor Coach companies will have existing agreements in place which will provide them with a transponder or Pin # to open the gates . No advance notice is required ( the invoicing is automated and tied back to their accounts via the transponder or Pin ).
For Coach companies that don ’ t have existing accounts in place , they can proceed to one of the commercial roadway entrance gate and use the intercom to gain access to the pickup location . Drivers will then be required to visit the Ground Transportation Counter located in the main arrivals hall to process their fee . PARKiNG There is a three-hour parking limit on all City of Ottawa streets between 7:00 a . m . and 7:00 p . m . unless otherwise marked . During rush hour ( 7:00 a . m . to 9:00 a . m ., 3:30 p . m . to 5:30 p . m .), many downtown streets prohibit parking and stopping to improve traffic flow . Pay attention to signs !
Vehicles are not allowed to idle for more than three consecutive minutes in a 60-minute period , except in extreme temperatures or if the idling vehicle is a transit vehicle that is picking up or dropping off passengers .
A number of major roadways in Ottawa are dedicated to OC Transpo buses only ( these roadways are called the Transitway ). These are marked with a diamond in the lane and / or a sign above the lane . Do not drive in these lanes as only authorized vehicles are permitted to do so .
From November 15 to April 1 , special winter parking regulations come into effect . If 7 cm ( 2.75 inches ) of snow are predicted or falling , vehicles are not allowed to park on city streets between 1:00 a . m . and 7:00 a . m .

PASSPoRT REQUiREMENTS
A valid passport is required for travel in and out of Canada for residents of all countries , including the United States , if travelling by air . Residents of some countries may also require a visa . As of June 1 , 2009 , U . S . citizens travelling to Canada from the United States must have a passport , passport card , or WHTI-compliant document .
Starting March 15 , 2016 , visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada will need an Electronic Travel Authorization ( eTA ). Exceptions include U . S . citizens and travelers with a valid visa .
PoPULATioN Based on the 2011 Census , the population of Ottawa is estimated at 883,391 people , and the population of the Ottawa-Gatineau region is estimated at 1,215,735 people .
PUBLic TRANSPoRTATioN There are two city bus systems in Canada ’ s Capital Region . OC Transpo ( 613-741-4390 , www . octranspo . com ) operates buses on the Ontario side of the Ottawa River . The Société de transport de l ’ Outaouais ( 819-770- 3242 , www . sto . ca ) operates on the Québec side of the river . You can transfer between them along Rideau and Wellington Streets in Ottawa and around the Portage Bridge and at the Place d ’ accueil on Maisonneuve Boulevard in Gatineau ( surcharge applies ). Bus tickets can be purchased from authorized dealers , some shopping malls , pharmacies , and convenience stores , or at OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres and STO offices . Bus fare is exact change only . Fares vary between regular and express routes . Regular adult fare for OC Transpo at press time was $ 3.65 cash or two tickets ($ 1.65 each ). Regular adult fare for STO at press time was $ 3.90 or one ticket ($ 3.50 ). Passengers can acquire paper transfers for return trips or stopovers . A day pass can be purchased on the bus for $ 8.50 and entitles riders to unlimited same-day travel . And , on Sundays and statutory holidays , one pass is good for the whole family ( up to two adults and four children up to age 11 ).
