How can one conduct EVP experiments?
If you still find the field interesting after realising that it won't yield results quite like those
on Hollywood film sets then you can do so relatively cheaply. Many paranormal
investigators still use the good old analogue dictaphones which you can generally pick up
for around £5-£10 nowadays. These record straight onto tape so in some respects they are
better than their digital counterparts as they are far less easy to "fake" the results on so
should you be lucky enough to record anything interesting your results may be taken
more seriously than those taken on a digital dictaphone. However, as with everything else
in this digital era, if generally works out cheaper in the long-run to go for the digital option
as it saves having to continually restock on tapes for your dictaphone.
Luckily, digital dictaphones have come down in price a lot over the past few years so
decent ones can now be picked up for around £40-£80. Obviously there are far more
expensive options out there too but for your average Saturday night wannabe EVP
recorder, something in the cheaper price bracket will be of ample sufficiency.
Dictaphones of any kind are useful in all kinds of paranormal related experiments though,
not just an attempt to record voices so it is well worth investing in one irrespective of your
view of Electronic Voice Phenomena.

Whether you decide to go for an analogue or digital recording device makes little
difference in the actual recording process itself. If you believe (like many) that the voices
people seemingly catch on their recording devices to be those of spirits then perhaps you
think placing your dictaphone in a graveyard would be a good place to start? If so, feel free
to go into any graveyard with your dictaphone to see if you can record anything outside
of your average sound of traffic, birds tweeting in the trees, rustling of leaves, people (of
the living variety) talking, etc. Rest assured you are more than likely not going to scare
