Journal 2007 Humans are biologically programmed to recognise shapes and patterns (this is one mechanism believed to be responsible for our ability to recognise so many faces of people we know or people we may have only seen once or twice in our lifetimes). Just as with our sense of sight, we are also programmed to detect the slightest hint of a recognisable sound/pattern in noises we hear. Evolutionists sometimes put this down to being possibly one of our reasons of survival. This trait of recognising shapes/faces/etc in images and sounds/words/sentences in sound recordings is known as Pareidolia, as mentioned in Chapter 2 of this e-book. History behind EVP The earliest known attempt to contact the spirit world using EVP was done by the well respected Thomas Edison in 1928. Source: http://www.nndb.com/people/333/000022267/edison-in-lab.jpg It is claimed that Edison himself "came back" from the dead himself once he had passed away and spoke through a clairvoyant with regards to how future generations could improve on his work. He claimed through this clairvoyant that people were able to modify their televisions and tune them to 740 Megahertz in order to get paranormal effects. Whether this tale in itself is true largely depends on your own personal view of the plausibility of the clairvoyant in question or clairvoyancy in general! However, not put off by this possibility, a whole host of people (scientists and otherwise) continued research into EVP involving a large array of recording devices. Research led onto side streams of EVP through recording devices onto such devices as telephones including the work of Scott Rego and Raymond Bayless in the 1960's whom conducted 27
