How many times have you been watching the television and not been able to quite hear what was said but the instant someone told you what was being said, you could 'hear' it yourself? I'm sure we've all been there at some point. With the recent release of "White Noise 2: The Light" in cinemas throughout the land, I dare say even more people will have an interest sparked in so-called Electronic Voice Phenomenon. Sadly, films such as these do genuine paranormal research no favours whatsoever. Usually they just open up the field to a whole host of previously uninterested (or indeed just the unaware) who then come along expecting miraculous results at every turn. To me, it doesn't matter how impressive the image or sound is, until it is recorded on more than one piece of equipment at any given time, there is always going to remain that huge element of doubt. Not only can things be faked a whole lot easier on just one photograph, one sound recording, one video clip, etc. but they can simply be misinterpreted a whole lot easier too. If you are to take a dictaphone recording of something, only to then tell people what you can hear before giving them a chance of listening to it first themselves then what is the point? The instant you say "did you hear....?" then you have implanted that suggestion in their heads. It is extremely difficult to then shake this suggestion so chances are, that person will indeed hear what you've just said you heard. 8
