GRANT COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 541-575-0547 gcoregonlive.com Explore Grant County Visit the Fossil Beds Cities, Towns and more 301 W. Main St. John Day, OR. 97845 On August 21, 2017, millions of people across the United States will see nature's most amazing spectacle—a total eclipse of the Sun, and one of the best places to view this miraculous moment is in the town of John Day in Grant County. “The county has a population of fewer than 8,000 people and we are expecting up to 50,000 visitors, so it will be a huge event,” said Chamber Manager, Tammy Bremner. “We can offer dark skies at night and bright-blue skies during the day so, weather-wise at that time of the year, this will be one of the best viewing spots in the northwest. All accommodations are booked and people began making reservations starting in 2011, and we’re now scouting areas where people can camp.” The area offers visitors great fishing and bicycle riding, and the Chamber is planning activities such as 5K fun runs, music and movies on the green and a professor from Mount Palomar College will provide educational presentations. For more eclipse information, go to: www.greatamericaneclipse.com Hours: 9:00 a.m. to noon, and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. During the summer months the Chamber is open seven days a week. 301 West Main Street John Day, OR 97845 Phone: 541-575-0547 Web: www.gcoregonlive.com SQUEEZE - IN RESTAURANT & DECK For fantastic service and even better food, you must drop in to The Squeeze In. “We take great pride in our food and we have an extensive menu,” said owner Shawn Duncan.
