architectural, and home-accent pieces, you must visit It’s a Burl,
an enthralling gallery and family-run business situated on The
Redwood Highway. “We have been in the same spot for 28
years, my son-in-law and grandson work here, and I have three
other artists some of whom have been with me for 16 years,”
explained owner Joy Shinerock.

The artists additionally fashion burlwood into fountains,
bowls, signs, and items too numerous to mention. Besides
the gallery, It’s a Burl has a large wood yard with many local
burlwoods such as Black Oak, Black Walnut, Manzanita,
Maple, and Redwood. With an annual visitation rate of some
25,000 people, It’s a Burl is a true destination place.
“Burlwood working is something that you don’t see just
anywhere, and everything that we make is one-of-a-kind,
made on site, and is not brought in from another country,
