Come to Royal Peacock Opal Mine where you can unearth exquisite , iridescent gemstones that dance in the sunlight . The Royal Peacock is the only mine with a full-service gift shop that sells jewelry as well as cool drinks , snacks , tools , and other supplies . In addition , they have 18 full RV hookups with water , sewer , and electric offering 30 and 50 amps . They also have two cabin rentals ; one with three twin beds and two twins in the other . They have Wi-Fi , a laundry room , restrooms , and shower facilities .
“ We ’ re family owned and operated and are the oldest family in Virgin Valley ,” said co-owner Julie Wilson . The mining process is simple , “ People register in the gift shop and a guide takes them up the hill and shows them what to do . People then begin digging in virgin ground and tailings with a pick and shovel .
