Good Old-Fashioned Family Food
In 1995, founders Bruce Dean and Bob and Laurie
Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner eatery in Mt. Shasta,
California. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly
atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. From these
humble beginnings in a small mountain town, Black Bear Diner
has flourished to over 60 diners in eight Western states—seems
folks in towns and cities alike appreciate quality food at reasonable prices, served with the friendliest of service.
Cape Creek Bridge
Black Bear Diner reflects the founders’ upbringing in small town
America, where honesty, integrity and hard work are the backbone of a community. These small town attributes can be seen
every day at each Black Bear Diner location. Enjoy huge portions
of comfort food classics like chicken fried steak, pot roast, or
meatloaf served with red-skinned mashed potatoes and country
gravy. Other favorites include giant burgers with golden French
fries, hand-dipped shakes served with the extra in the tin, and
sweet cream pancakes made from our own secret recipe. In true
diner form, the entire menu—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—is
available any time of the day.
Each Black Bear Diner features a unique, bear-themed atmosphere, with wooden chainsaw-carved bears in various poses
that reflect activities important to the communities they are in.
