BTEC BUSINESS
Everything in life involves Business. Think about that new top you bought last week and then think of
what businesses made it possible for you to be wearing it right now?
The obvious ones are the shop and the manufacturing plant but what about the cotton growers, the
delivery company, health & safety and even the companies that manage the finances of all those
businesses. Thinking about all those processes and people allows you begin to understand what
Business qualifications are all about.
Business is a major part of everyone’s life and anybody who has a good idea about how businesses
work are at an immediate advantage in the future.
The course
In Business, students learn about spotting a business opportunity, showing enterprise, putting a
business idea into practice, making the start-up of a business effective and understanding the
economic context. In addition to this, they learn about marketing, meeting customer needs, effective
financial management, effective people management and the wider world affecting business.
This course is designed to investigate a range of essential areas that make up the world of
business. These include how businesses are owned, finance, the stock market, marketing, customer
service, sales, law, the economy and recruitment. These vocational courses will enable students to
relate the knowledge they acquire to real businesses. The course will involve a number of field trips to
help students develop and apply their understanding to the ‘real world’ of business.
