Additional Option Choices

As previously mentioned most pupils will have the opportunity to pick up an additional GCSE level qualification. This will be studied over the course of Year 9 & 10. Below is a brief outline of the courses on offer.

LIBF Level 2 Certificate in Financial Education:

The Certificate in Financial Education introduces you to the impact of finance on the economy and encourages you to consider how this can affect business and the individual. Through this it develops knowledge and a valuable range of applied and transferable skills and provides a foundation for further study in business and finance related disciplines.

Units of Study:

* Finance, the individual and society - 20 stand-alone multiple-choice questions and 5 sets of stimulus material each with 3 associated questions (total marks 35)

* Practices of money management - 15 stand-alone multiple-choice questions and 5 sets of stimulus material each with 4 associated questions (total marks 35)

* Financial capability, work & enterprise - pre-release case study requiring written responses (total marks 27)

Level 2 Course in Information Technology:

You will be given the chance to study basic IT skills that could aid you in future employment. The course will offer you the opportunity to study word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and communication skills giving you a broad understanding of the key IT requirements of day to day working in the 21st Century.

NCFE Level 2 in Food & Cookery:

This qualification is designed for pupils who have an interest in food and cookery. It will provide you with experience of using different cooking techniques and methods to enable you to use these within further education or apprenticeships. It will give you a basic understanding of the skills required for a career in food.

Units of Study:

* Preparing to cook

* Understanding food

* Exploring balanced diets

* Planning and producing dishes
