LENS WINS AWARD
Costa’s Sunrise Silver Mirror lens
took home the title of Best of Show -
Eyewear during the International
Convention of Allied Sportfishing
Trades 2017 New Product Showcase
Awards in Orlando, Fla., this summer.
The ICAST New Product Showcase
Awards is an annual event featuring
over 1,200 nominated products, with
almost 15,000 registered attendees
eligible to vote for their favourite in-
novations in tackle, gear, accessories
and apparel in the global sportfishing
world. Costa has won this attendee-
determined title for various new
sunglass styles and lens technologies
over the last nine of 10 years.
The Sunrise Silver Mirror lens, ideal
for encountering low-light or changing
light conditions, allows for 30 per cent
light transmission (versus the typical
10-12 per cent) while still maintaining
high polarization efficiency. Designed
for dusk-to-dawn performance and
especially effective during cloudy
days, Sunrise Silver Mirror is scratch
resistant and prescription ready. Ad-
ditionally, the Costa 580® patented
technology eliminates harsh yellow
light and harmful blue light, while
green, red and blue hues are enhanced.

SAFILO RELOCATES
NORTH AMERICAN HEADQUARTERS
Safilo has announced the relocation of its North American headquarters from
Parsippany to 300 Lighting Way in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The new headquarters, which officially opened this summer is located about five
miles from New York City and occupies the second and fourth floors of a
10-storey building.
Designed as an open-space work environment for the fully integrated Italian
eyewear creator, manufacturer and worldwide distributor, the two floors span a
total of 55,000 square feet and house a fully stocked customer showroom, call
centre, numerous product workrooms and conference rooms, a large meeting
space to house town hall sessions and other events as well as an employee
cafeteria and pantry.
The offices were designed by Studio 1200, a multi-disciplinary US design and
architecture collective, directed by Safilo Group’s own interior design department.
This move is part of the simplification and modernization of Safilo’s North
American operations. In October 2015, the distribution and logistics functions
were merged into Safilo’s Denver Distribution Center in Colorado while its other
DC – which had previously been co-located within the Parsippany HQ – was
closed and its returns and reprocessing functions were migrated to Denver
in June 2016.
SAFILO GROUP AND JCPENNY
RENEW LICENCE
Safilo Group, the Italian eyewear creator, manufacturer and JCPenney have
announced the renewal of a five-year licensing agreement for the design, man-
ufacturing and distribution of optical frames and sunglasses for the Liz Claiborne
for women and Claiborne for men brands in the United States and Canada.
This multiyear agreement gives continuity to two strong optical brands, both
highly regarded by independent optical retailers and their customers, as they
offer well-appointed comfort and fit for unique eyewear needs.
